Introduction
Even though Crypto.com started operating in the Blockchain later than other big exchanges, such as CoinBase, Binance and Kucoin, it is the one currently leading the marketing race, proudly showing everyone the road to success. Crypto.com didn't stop at the people already familiar with the Blockchain, the Crypto Enthusiasts around the globe. Instead, it decided to break the barrier and take the risk of expanding its marketing worldwide, targeting the mainstream audience. First, it sponsored the Formula 1 World Championship, while it later also agreed to sponsor the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. This indicates that Crypto.com is determined to introduce everyone to the Blockchain, which is something that we as the Cropperfield team fully support and admire.
Let us take a step back and examine how Cryptocurrency reached its current level. If it weren’t for Crypto Enthusiasts trying to calm all of the newcomers' concerns, the price of 2 pizzas would have remained equal to 10,000 Bitcoins up to this day. Fear would have taken over in regards to this new and unfamiliar type of currency, and Bitcoin would still be considered by the vast majority of the population as an “evil” currency, that is solely used for illegal transactions. It is us, Crypto Enthusiasts, who need to inform and educate everyone about the Blockchain, so that the mainstream audience accepts and believes in it as we do. If we consider the fact that only 5% of the population is actually active in the Blockchain, it is quite evident that we are still in the very early stages of achieving our goal.
There is no need to fool ourselves. Most if not all games currently on the Blockchain labeled as "Play-to-Earn" would stand zero chances in gaining traction as an independent franchise in the gaming industry, since they are not seen as attractive by the gaming community. It is highly unlikely that gamers would spend time on such dull and outdated turn-based games, if it weren’t for the economic benefits that these may provide. That's where Battle of Shards will try to diverge from the rest of these games. Its primary aim will be to attract the mainstream gaming community, in the hope of lessening the gap between crypto games, and quality games seen by the community as fun and addictive.
Battle of Shards (BoS) will be a MOBA game with RPG elements, trying to bring fun and competition between players with its real-time action. The game, once completed, will be listed on the well-known Steam Platform which hosts millions of gamers every day.
Steam has stated that developers are prohibited from publishing “applications built on blockchain technology that issue or allow the exchange of cryptocurrencies or NFTS.", in an effort to avoid items that can have real-world value on their platform.
We will adhere to the above rule set by Steam. Battle of Shards will not be built on blockchain technology, and it will neither issue nor allow any blockchain exchanges in-game. The game will not be connected to the Blockchain and there will not be any need of using a wallet in order to play. BoS will be exactly like every other "normal" game, where people will be able to compete through a matchmaking system against other players online, and thus enjoy the game while also increasing their ranks.
A player will only have the ability to get rewarded in Magic Shards for his achievements in BoS through our Magic Farm Dapp, which stands as an independent application.
